Activation of adsobent means, increasing the adsorbing power of an adsobent. This can be done by increasing the surface area of the adsobent which can be achieved in any of the following ways :
a.
By removing the gases adsorbed, i.e.,
wood charcoal can be activated by heating it between 650K
and 1330K
in vacuum or super heated steam.
b.
By breaking the adsorbent into small pieces.
c.
By making the surface of adsorbent rough.
